I've shown a lot of homes in the North End over the years, and there's a moment that happens almost every time — somewhere between the front porch and the original built-ins — where the buyer just goes quiet. That's the North End doing what it does.
The streets are lined with old growth trees, the lots are generous, and the housing runs from stately Victorians to early Craftsmans to solid mid-century ranches. Most of these homes have been loved for generations. That shows up in ways you can feel.
People move to the North End and they stay. The energy here is quiet in the best way — neighbors know each other, front porches get used, and there's a rhythm to the streets that you notice after about five minutes of walking them.
The housing mix here is one of my favorite things about this neighborhood. You'll find steeply pitched Victorians next to low-slung Craftsman bungalows next to honest mid-century ranches — and a lot of original detail still intact on all of them. These are homes that were built to last.
You're minutes from Proctor's shops and restaurants, a short drive to Point Defiance Park, and close enough to I-5 that the commute doesn't feel like a punishment. The North End gives you all of that without asking you to give anything up.
